    • 'I don't think I'll reach 94'

      By Li Xueying

MINISTER Mentor Lee Kuan Yew does not think he will live as long as his father, who died at 94.

He said this in an interview with CNN which was conducted the day before he turned 85 last Tuesday, and two days after he suffered an atrial flutter.

      'So I don't think I'll reach my father's 94,' he said.

While he is going strong, 'the day after tomorrow, something could go wrong with the ticker, and then, that's that,' he said.

Mr Lee was hospitalised for a day for an abnormal heart rhythm, a condition not uncommon among people of his age.

Asked for his secrets to longevity and success, he said that one's lifespan depends on what one has inherited from parents.

While his father lived to 94, his mother died at 74 of heart problems.

Mr Lee himself had his first heart problem when he was 74 in 1996.

'Fortunately, unlike her time, they could do an angioplasty and a stent. So that solved it,' he said.

On whether he has any regrets, he said no.

'I've discharged what I had to do... every day is a bonus.

'I take every day as it comes. I see the sun rise, I see the sun set. I eat less than I want to. I swim and I cycle. I sleep well at night, and I enjoy my work.

'But 70 to 80 per cent is what I inherited from my parents.'

Umm, I believe the most they will give is only one holiday for you to mourn for the old man.    Some are already thinking how to celebrate.

    • Simple theory here, if LKY really did some malicious deeds as those rebels here have stated.

Then how come he can live so long without any retribution?

Clearly the rebels are wrong. angel.png

So you're saying LKY is Andy Lau? angel.png

One thing I know about good guys and bad guys is.....

Bad guys are good to nobody but only themselves.

Good guys are good to other good guys but are only super duper more bad to the bad guys. angel.png

Which forumers here have never experienced injustice at the hands of their parents?

Does that means their parents are bad guys because they punished the forumers unreasonably when they were young?

Should the forumers grow up to continue to hate their parents for being unreasonable to them on previous occasions?

      OR

Should the people also embrace the fact that they were the children of the country and the government is their acting parents who previously also punished them unreasonably on certain occasions for their own good...so that the people would grow up to be better citizens?

If the forumers were able to forgive their own parents for being unreasonable to them on previous occasions, they should be able to also forgive the government for being unreasonable to them on previous occasions too.

If the people of the country only indulged in quarrelling and arguing amongst themselves, then the only one thing that will be hurt in all these chaos will be the country itself.

So please have a heart and think about the rest of the other citizens who are as helpless and weak as me.

You don't want to put me to live in a country of turmoil right? angel.png

    • he is just `pacifying' the detractors, like poh ah pak and the likes, though 94 is a long way to go.

i think he will live beyond 94.

if he's got no heart, then he would be alive for don't know how long.

He needs to be in hospital, last time his heart rhythm was normal, now not so normal.teeth.png

Spinning is the art of making all reports, especially the bad ones, look good for the subject concerned and vice versa.

Even the picture can be spun by choosing the ones that will make the subject appear masterly and talking down to his companion. In the case of the Prime Minister the pictures chosen would show him to be dominant in relation to whoever he is talking to, other Prime Ministers, or even Presidents.

Never mind if he is junior to his partner but well chosen pictures will make out that he is more senior. Don't publish a picture of him falling asleep or with a vacant look in his eyes.

      5. Readers would be taken in by the spin. If on the other hand, the subject is not liked by the spin doctors, then publish his picture scowling or cringing before whoever was talking to him.

don't worry dieheart, if anything goes wrong with him the group of doctors will be the first ones to get it from him and his family.  He has a big team of drs looking after him and so far they are doing very good job.
